Westwood International School provides a quality international education that enables students to meet future challenges as confident, socially responsible, life-long learners.
What a busy time we all had in Westwood during the month of June!
Between the after-school activities programme, school assemblies, the restarting of inter- school fixtures, visitors from abroad, CAS activities and even our first school trip, it feels like finally school is back.
During the last two and half years there has not been much to celebrate at school.
So, it’s wonderful to see children having fun again and to see smiles returning to faces. Even if most of those smiles are still behind masks.
It’s been a real joy these past few weeks to see our students competing so well on the sports fields and really enjoying playing football, basketball and netball matches against other schools. Congratulations to all the Westwood teams and their coaches.
What a pleasure to see our students once again enjoying school trips. The Year 6 trip to Dukwi refugee camp returned. It was our first major school trip since the start of 2020. I know that all the students in Year 6 learned a great deal during the trip and we are proud to continue supporting the Dukwi community.
We even had our first overseas visitors to Westwood as we received the students and staff from Impington school in the UK.
We are also proud that Westwood continues to support so many local organisations, schools and charities through our CAS programme. Our IB students are truly caring and conscientious as they continue to raise funds through various activities to help support local needs in our community.
We hope that, going forward, the restrictions that we have all been used to for so long will lift and we can enjoy increasing freedoms both at school and at home.
After a long winter it feels like Spring is in the air.
I hope you enjoy the month of July with your families.
