Westwood International School (WIS) is a non-profit organization almost entirely dependent on fee income.
Our greatest strength lies in our commitment to learning together in a diverse and multicultural community, which respects the heritage of each individual. The members of our Senior Leadership Team, each has a diverse background, a wealth of knowledge, and are qualified to ensuring the success of our students. The Senior Leadership of Westwood International School is comprised of:
– Head of School –
Mr. Jones is an international educator who has extensive experience, and in depth knowledge of all three IB programmes spanning over twenty-five years, as a teacher, examiner, teacher trainer and administrator.
Mr. Jones has worked on four different continents, and in ten different countries, thus giving him an extremely developed sense of cultural awareness.
In Africa, he has worked for a total of twelve years, eight years in Tanzania and four years in Zimbabwe.
He is a multi lingual and multi-cultural school leader - an English native speaker, who is also fluent in French and Spanish.
Mr Jones is joined here in Botswana by his French wife Martine.

Alejandra Guevara has been serving as the
Senior International Adviser for Mercosur
Education Sector in the MENA Region. After
completing her post as the first expat female to
head the first international school in Iraq outside
Kurdistan area as a Schoolwide Principal at the
International Academy of Iraq. Alejandra has an
extensive leadership experience in the MENA
region dating back to 2005.
Alejandra earned a PHD in Education and a M.A in International Business Management, as well as
several international education certifications.
Alejandra brings a very diverse international leadership experience to Westwood International School, in
which her main focus will be to inspire the young learners to experience the synergy and integration of
human development and emotional intelligence combined in order to become the true leaders of
tomorrow in their society.

The WIS Council are the strategic leaders of our school and have a vital role to play in making sure every child gets the best possible education. Their purpose, reflected in the WIS Council Constitution, is to ‘conduct the school with a view to promoting high standards of educational achievement at the school. They have a strong focus on three core strategic functions:

Westwood International School is an English medium international school in Gaborone, Botswana. It was founded in 1988 with sponsorship from the American and British governments and in collaboration with the Botswana Ministry of Education.
